Prune

There’s no sugarcoating this: Prune is famous. This East Village eatery is one of the best brunches in the city, and is as busy as they come. Make sure that you plan ahead for this one, as it is very worth the wait. Head chef Gabrielle Hamilton deserves a medal.

First of all, start with a Bloody Mary. Not only does Prune serve them, they serve a variety of them. They’re famous for it. They’re also famous for the quaintness of the physical restaurant. In the spring and summer, patrons are able to sit by the open doors and look out at those walking by while enjoying their steak and eggs.

Prune has a great combination of classic breakfast items and innovative ones. For example, if you want to try something new, you can go with the sausage and oysters. If that’s not exactly your thing, there’s always the classic eggs benedict. We’re ordering the fried oyster omelet with remoulade, but to each their own.

Circling back to those Bloody Marys, would you believe us if we said that there are 12 on the menu (one without booze). Just don’t go too crazy, it is still 12 PM. Try Prune if you are the cutest little bruncher there ever was. And the most patient.
