Astoria is a hidden gem code for food heaven. Astoria has it all and more in terms of the varieties of ethnic cuisines, bakeries, and overall dining experience. The Bonnie is an example of that variety. Whoever said Queens was too far out, or irrelevant probably hasn’t actually been past a subway stop.
If you have to wait to be seated, which you likely will due to The Bonnie’s popularity, then order The Bonnie punch. It might be a little dangerous because it’s so sweet and drinkable, but it definitely contains alcohol, so hopefully, you don’t have to wait too long.
This unpretentious place serves the standards of American
brunch and does it well. With an excellent eggs benedict, bacon egg and cheese
bites, fried chicken and waffles, and smoked salmon flatbread.
The ambiance is as subtle as the deliciousness of the food--a modern decor mixed with cute touches. It’s worth the trip to Astoria.
